Stefan Kühndorf
Stefan Kühndorf has been a permanent member of the Stuttgart State Orchestra since September 2019 and made his debut with the Bayreuth Wagner Festival Orchestra in the summer of 2022. He regularly performs as a substitute with prestigious orchestras such as the Munich Philharmonic, Stuttgart Philharmonic, WDR Symphony Orchestra, NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra, and the Festival Strings Lucerne. His festival appearances include the Berlin Festival, Lucerne Festival, and BBC Proms in London.

In addition to his performing career, Stefan has been a lecturer for contrabass tuba at the Mannheim University of Music and Performing Arts since 2019, moving to the Stuttgart University of Music in 2023.
Starting his musical journey on the cornet at age 8, Stefan switched to the tuba two years later. He completed his bachelor's degree with Prof. David LeClair at the Basel Music Academy in 2012, followed by further studies with Prof. Stefan Heimann and Stefan Ambrosius at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. His early career included engagements with the Frankfurt Opera, Berlin State Opera, and the Gürzenich Orchestra in Cologne, where he performed from 2015 to 2019.
